Student Digital Devices

Posted Date: 7/28/25 (11:48 AM)

Horizon West Middle School Families,

Here is an update regarding our schools 1:1 Digital Learning Program.  We will begin transitioning to a classroom-based device model this school year.  This means that district-issued devices will primarily be used in school and will no longer be taken home.

Why is this change happening?

  • Keeping devices at school ensures they are always updated, and ready for classroom activities, allowing lessons to begin without delay.
  • Our teachers blend digital resources with hands-on activities, group work, and traditional materials.  This change ensures all students have access to the right tools at the right time.
  • Storing devices in the classroom helps reduce accidental damage and loss, ensuring they are available for all students when needed.
What to expect when the transition occurs:
  • Devices will remain at school.
  • Students will be reminded to save their work to their Google Drive account before the end of each class.
How to support your child:
  • Please encourage your child to handle classroom devices with care and respect.
We believe that this adjustment will create a more focused and consistent learning environment for all students. Thank you for your understanding and support through this process.
